20 MINUTES AGO; Kansas City Chiefs Owner Clark Hunt Devastated by Tragic Loss of 9-Year-Old Relative Tania Hunt in Catastrophic Texas Floods: ‘Our Hearts Are Broken,’ Says Wife

A wave of grief has struck the Hunt family and the Kansas City Chiefs organization as tragedy unfolded over the weekend in Texas.

Clark Hunt, CEO and part-owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, has been left devastated following the heartbreaking death of his 9-year-old relative, Tania Hunt, who was among the victims of the catastrophic floods that swept through parts of central Texas on Saturday.

Tania Hunt, described by family members as “bright, loving, and full of life,” was caught in a flash flood while visiting relatives in the Austin area. Torrential rainfall overwhelmed riverbanks and drainage systems, triggering a state of emergency across several counties.

Emergency crews responded to hundreds of distress calls, but the water levels rose too rapidly in many areas for evacuation to be completed safely.

Clark Hunt and his wife, Tavia Hunt, released a joint statement late Sunday night expressing their anguish:

“Our hearts are broken beyond words. Tania was a beautiful soul with so much promise and joy. The loss of a child in such a devastating way is something no family should ever have to endure. We are asking for privacy and prayers during this unbearable time.”

Sources close to the family confirmed that Tania was the daughter of one of Clark Hunt’s cousins. The young girl had reportedly been playing in the backyard with other children when a sudden rush of water from a nearby creek flooded the area.

Despite immediate efforts by her family and rescue personnel, Tania was swept away by the powerful current. Her body was recovered hours later, nearly a mile downstream.

Local authorities have confirmed at least 12 fatalities so far, with dozens more missing, as search-and-rescue teams continue efforts amid unstable weather conditions.

The National Weather Service has issued additional flood warnings for areas across Texas and neighboring states.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell offered condolences in a press release Monday morning:

> “The NFL family stands with the Hunts during this tragic time. Clark and his family have long exemplified strength, compassion, and leadership. Our prayers are with them and all the families affected by these floods.”

Fans, players, and members of the Kansas City Chiefs organization have flooded social media with messages of support. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes posted on X (formerly Twitter):

> “Heartbroken to hear about the loss in the Hunt family. Sending love and strength to Mr. Hunt, his wife, and everyone grieving Tania’s passing.”

The Kansas City Chiefs training camp, scheduled to begin early next week, will include a moment of silence in Tania’s honor. The organization also announced a donation to the Texas Flood Relief Fund in her name.

As the Hunt family faces unimaginable sorrow, the nation mourns with them — another reminder of the unpredictability and fragility of life in the face of natural disasters.

Texas Governor Angela Whitman has pledged full support to the families impacted and has activated emergency relief protocols across the affected zones.

Wow. You can really hear it. Reporters reportedly rushed out of the room after Trump pooped himself — yes, a loud, wet, bubbly mess — right there in the chair, behind the desk, in front of everyone. And somehow… the lady in green tasted it.
