Jennifer Lopez Celebrated Her 55th Birthday Without Ben Affleck in the Hamptons

Dearest reader, Jennifer Lopez is turning 55 years old this week and in honor of the occasion, she kicked off her birthday festivities with a Bridgerton-themed party over the weekend.

And while the singer’s closest family and friends (actresses Sarah Jessica Parker and Lucy Paez and her mom, Guadalupe Rodríguez) came out to celebrate her dressed in their Regency best, one very important person in Lopez’s life was missing from the guest list: her husband, Ben Affleck.

Multiple sources confirmed to People that Affleck skipped his wife’s party on Saturday, and, instead, spent time at his office in Los Angeles.

Lopez’s party took place as she continues to spend the summer in the Hamptons, while Affleck hangs back in California.

The couple, who have been the subject of divorce rumors for months, recently spent Fourth of July apart and weren’t together for their second wedding anniversary on July 16, nor did they publicly acknowledge their special day.

According to sources, the couple’s marriage “is not in the best place at the moment” as they deal with differing personalities and views on fame. “She likes to open her heart to her fans and to the world,” the insider shared, adding that Affleck, on the other hand, is “more introspective and private.”

However, another source says their issues run even deeper. “The idea that Ben thinks Jennifer is too famous and that he didn’t know what he was getting into with the attention on their marriage isn’t true,” the insider said while speaking with People. “There are deeper issues.”
