Simone Biles Explains Why Food At The Olympic Village Is Not Very Good
Food at the Olympic Village has criticized frequently throughout the 2024 Paris Games. Quality of product and a shortage of staple items have led to what some called a “disaster” in France’s capital city.
Simone Biles did her best to explain why the food at the Olympic Village just isn’t very good. While she says she likes French cuisine, what she’s had thus far hasn’t lived up to the standard!
The gymnast, fresh off a gold medal performance with Team USA, was asked about what she’s been eating this week and whether or not she’s enjoying it. Here’s what she had to say:
“In the village, it’s not proper French cuisine, like you guys might be eating because you guys are outside the village. So, for the athletes, it’s a little bit healthier.”
Teammate Hezly Rivera echoed those sentiments, following up on Biles’ explanation at the podium.
“I don’t think it’s very good, at least what we’re having in the dining hall. I definitely think French food is good, but what we’re having in there I don’t think is the best. But, it gets the job done.”
The gymnasts say the food isn’t up to par with what you’d typically experience in France. Blandness and a lack of flavor have been top points of criticism, leading many to get creative with meal prep.
At least the desserts have lived up to the billing according to Olympians on site – particularly the chocolate muffins.
We likely had an idea as to why the food at the Olympic Village wasn’t going to be as tasty as you’d expect, even in Paris. Simone Biles came out and said it!
It’s healthier, a point further emphasized by the Olympic committee’s push to add more plant-based items.
It seems some are now searching for options outside of the village in hopes of better satisfying the taste buds. Others are doing the best with what they’ve got!
