President Donald Trump reacted to the news Tuesday that singer Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs football player Travis Kelce got engaged.

‘Well I wish them a lot of luck’, the president said. ‘I think he’s a great player and a great guy and I think she’s a terrific person so I wish them a lot of luck.’

The president commented on the news to reporters during a Cabinet meeting at the White House.

Swift announced the news in a post on Instagram, sharing a photo of Kelce getting down on one knee in a garden surrounded by flowers.

‘Your English teacher and gym teacher are getting married,’ Swift wrote simply along with the song ‘So High School,’ that was inspired by her love for Kelce.

Forbes estimates the pop icon’s net worth at $1.6 billion, largely a result of her global sensation Eras tour.

Trump has notoriously trolled the legendary singer after she endorsed his political rival Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 elections.

‘I’m voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,’ Swift wrote in September on her Instagram. ‘I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.’

She signed her post ‘childless cat lady,’ a shot at Vice President JD Vance, who once insulted single women with cats in a speech.

In response, Trump famously announced in all-caps on Truth Social that, ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!’

Earlier this month, Trump decried Swift as ‘woke’ and claimed she was shedding fans after her controversial endorsement.

‘Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can’t stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT,’ Trump claimed.

‘The tide has seriously turned – Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be,’ the president added.

Swift and Kelce have remained silent in response to Trump’s attacks.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has kept his political opinions to himself, but sparked interest after he said that playing in front of President Trump at the 2025 Super Bowl was a ‘great honor.’

Swift and Kelce went public with their relationship in September 2023 as the singer started attending his NFL games, and the football player even dressing in a suit to perform on stage on her billion-dollar global Eras tour.

Fans of the seemingly happy couple expressed worries that Kelce could end up as the latest discarded lover that would fuel future ballads in Swift’s musical catalog.

But the couple seemed inseparable, despite speculation from fans that the relationship would not last.

Swift appeared on Kelce’s podcast on August 13 to announce her new album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ and revealed details of their romance.

She said she became ‘obsessed’ with football after they started dating and Kelce thanked her for joining him into his world.

‘I am forever thankful for you diving into the football world wholeheartedly,’ he said.
