In a fiery press conference Friday, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey sharply rebuked the Trump administration’s account of a fatal shooting involving an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent, calling federal claims “bullshit” and accusing officials of “hiding the facts.

“The confrontation stems from Wednesday’s incident, in which ICE agent Jonathan Ross fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, a U.S. citizen and mother of three, during a large-scale immigration enforcement operation in the city.

The Trump administration, including President Donald Trump and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, quickly asserted that Good attempted to “violently, willfully, and viciously run over” the agent, framing the shooting as self-defense and labeling her actions “domestic terrorism.

“Frey, who has repeatedly demanded ICE “get the f*** out of Minneapolis” for creating chaos and endangering residents, directly challenged Trump’s narrative about the agent’s injuries.

Reviewing video evidence from multiple angles, Frey stated: “The ICE agent walked away with a hip injury that he might as well have gotten from closing a refrigerator door with his hips. He was not injured. I’ve seen worse injuries from doing that. Give me a break.

No, he was not ran over. He walked out of there with a hop in his step.”Multiple independent analyses of bystander and official videos appear to support Frey’s position, showing Good steering her vehicle away from officers rather than toward them, with no clear evidence of severe injury to the agent.

The mayor also criticized the FBI’s takeover of the investigation, excluding Minnesota’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and called for transparency, local involvement, and a fair probe. “This is not a time to hide from the facts,” Frey said. “If you’ve got nothing to hide, then don’t hide from it.
