Ariana Grande reveals why she will NEVER do The Voice again amid Wicked success

Ariana Grande has no plans to return as a coach to NBC’s The Voice.

After previously serving as a judge and mentor on the music competition show in 2021, alongside John Legend, Blake Shelton, and Kelly Clarkson, the Wicked actress, 31, revealed why she would be hesitant to ever return to the gig.

‘I got so emotionally attached to everyone. That’s my problem. I can’t really do that because I really get in,’ she said on the Las Culturistas podcast.

The 7 Rings hitmaker continued: ‘I really get in there with everyone. I love everyone so much. I love meeting people, and I’ve felt so invested.’

Grande formed a close connection to many of the contestants on her season and, even, invited her The Voice team members Holly Forbes, Jim Allen and Sasha Allen to her family’s Thanksgiving dinner in 2021.

At the time, Forbes said ‘the most unexpected thing about Ariana’ to her is ‘just how big her heart is.’

‘You know, she’s always checking on us. We got the chance to meet some her close family members and friends, and she’s so loving to everyone,’ Forbes told People.

‘People might have opinions on her, and I didn’t know how she’d be as a person at first, but she’s just incredible,’ Forbes added. ‘It was unexpected to meet someone of her celebrity status who is so real and kind.’

Singer, Raquel Trinidad, also told the outlet that she was ‘pleasantly surprised about how ridiculously friendly Ariana is — to the point where’ they get ‘texts from her.’

‘We talk to her like she’s been a friend for years,’ Trinidad said. ‘I can text her and say, “Hey, does this sound good?” She’s so honest with us, and she’ll tell us, “We need to fix this.” I really did not expect to make such a lifelong friend.”

Ryleigh Plank, who was also a member of Team Ariana, credited Grande for teaching her to be ‘okay with imperfection.’

‘She’s really opened my eyes to be less critical of myself,’ Plank said. ‘I love to explore and push the envelope, but sometimes when you do those things, you don’t always get it perfect. But she’s made such a wonderful environment for that exact thing. I am really grateful for that amount of realness that she’s brought to the show.’

Although she has no plans to return, Legend previously said on The Voice that Grande ‘very talented.’

In 2021, Grande admitted the job was harder than she imagined.

‘You watch it on TV and you think you know, “OK, I’m going get in there and it’s going to be easy whatever,”‘ she told told E! News. ‘But it’s so hard. [The other coaches] are so seasoned and so great at it.’

She also admitted during an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show that she broke nearly ‘every rule’ in her contract.

‘I talk to them all, all the time. I’m like, DMing them. They’re like, “You’re not supposed to do that.” And I’m like, “Sorry.”‘ she confessed.

She was announced as Nick Jonas’ replacement in May 2021.

‘I have been a huge fan of the show for such a long time,” she said in a statement at the time. ‘I can’t wait to go head-to-head with the incredible coaches, get to know these new artists and help to take their craft to the next level.’
