Taylor Swift Sends 8-Word Message to her Fans Before Chiefs-Texans Game
Following a first-round bye, the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Houston Texans in the AFC divisional round on Jan. 18. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Co. hope to become the first team to ever win a Super Bowl three-peat, however, the 35-year-old All-Pro is taking the playoffs one game at a time.
ESPN’s Chris Berman asked Kelce before the matchup, “How much do you guys talk amongst yourselves saying, ‘You know, we have a chance at history.'” Kelce answered, “I haven’t heard anybody talk about anything three-peat, anything like that. We’re focused on the Houston Texans right now.
Anybody can get beat in the playoffs if you don’t come in with the right mentality and the right mindset.” Helping cheer for the Chiefs on Saturday, Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
While the pop star made a head-turning entrance at Arrowhead Stadium before kickoff, Swift also sent a message to fans and staff waiting for her in the tunnel.
Swift said, “You guys are here early! I love it!” The 14-time Grammy winner arrived for the Texans-Chiefs showdown several hours before kickoff, which surprised numerous fans.
The night before, Swift and her parents were spotted going out to dinner in New York City, so they must’ve left for Kansas City early on Saturday morning. Kelce couldn’t be more happy to have Swift back in Kansas City for the big game.
The 10-time Pro Bowler gushed to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith about Swift’s support earlier this week. “That’s the beauty of being in a very strong relationship,” he said, “is that you get that support to be able to come in and focus on your craft. Focus on being the best version of you.
“I think I’m as focused as I’ve ever been on my job and being the best player I can possibly be, week in and week out for this team. And it’s because I don’t have to worry about things off the field.”
He also shut down rumors that she may be pushing for him to retire from such a violent sport. “She’s fully encouraging me to enjoy playing this game,” Kelce said.
“She loves coming to Arrowhead and coming to the games and cheering for me so I got all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams.
