Sad News: Grammy Awards Announce Taylor Swift’s First Loss of the Night
For Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, Feb. 2 is a big day.
While Kelce and the Chiefs land in New Orleans in preparation of their third consecutive Super Bowl appearance, Swift is in Los Angeles for the 2025 Grammy Awards. Swift, who released her 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” in April earned six Grammy nominations this year.
In addition to album of the year (“The Tortured Poets Department”), record of the year (“Fortnight”), song of the year (“Fortnight”), best pop vocal album (“The Tortured Poets Department”) and best music video (“Fortnight”), the 35-year-old earned a nod for best pop duo/group performance for her feature on Gracie Abrams’ song “Us.”
However, before Swift even arrived to the ceremony on Sunday evening, the Grammys announced her first loss of the night.
The Grammys revealed that the best music video award went to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.”
If Swift won, she could’ve made history as the first artist to win the award three times. Instead, that honor goes to Lamar, who perviously won for “Humble” and his collaboration with Swift on “Bad Blood.”
As a friend of Swift, numerous fans were thrilled to the rapper and applauded the cultural impact of his music video. However, some Swifties couldn’t help but feel dissatisfied since the video for “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone was such a major production.
One fan posted, “I love kendrick but there’s definitely someone behind this snub cuz love taylor swift or not but this is objectively the most well crafted, best cinematographic music video, not only the year but at least this decades.”
One person replied, “Word. Love kendrick down but i thought this was her category to win this year.” Swift, who’s already racked up 14 Grammys Awards throughout her career, still has a chance to add five more to her trophy case before the night is over.
