Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, might be more similar to Travis Kelce than we thought – as the actor sported the same fashion accessory as the football player did during this year’s Super Bowl.
On Sunday night, Alwyn arrived on the Oscars red carpet wearing a sharp black tuxedo and black bowtie, complete with a sparkling brooch pinned to his lapel.
The brooch appeared to be in the shape of a flower, with a ruby-colored stone in the middle.
It also featured light purple and orange stones that were encrusted in diamonds.
Alwyn dated Swift for six years, but they broke up in early 2023.
That summer, the Cruel Summers hitmaker started dating the Kansas City Chiefs player.
And, interestingly enough, Kelce also wore a brooch on the burnt-orange suit that he wore walking into the Caesars Superdome as his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, faced off against The Philadelphia Eagles in the 2025 Super Bowl.
Kelce’s brooch was a bit more flashy than Alwyn’s, as he sported a bright gold brooch in the shape of a rose.
Underneath the suit, he wore an auburn-colored, sparkling two-piece set, and accessorized by slicking back his hair and throwing on a pair of orange-tinted aviators.
Unfortunately, Kelce’s team lost the Super Bowl to the Eagles 40 to 22.
However, it looks like both Alwyn and Kelce may be starting a trend in the male fashion world, as a few others sported the accessory on the Oscars red carpet Sunday evening.
Actor Kit Connor pinned on a flashy, bedazzled silver brooch to his black suit for the awards show.
Alwyn’s appearance at the Oscars comes nearly two years after he split from Swift.
He will be presenting an award at the 2025 Academy Awards.
Earlier this year, he made a rare comment about his relationship with Swift while promoting his new film, The Brutalist, during an interview with The Guardian.
When asked if he thought dating the hitmaker would overshadow his career, the actor answered, ‘I have tried just to focus on controlling what I can control.’
‘Right from the beginning, tried to focus on the things that are meaningful for me: friends, family, work, of course,’ he said.
‘So noise outside of that, I think I’ve done what lots of people who find themselves in the public eye do, which is just try and ignore it,’ he explained adding, ‘If you don’t, and if you let all of that other stuff in, and if it starts to affect you and your behavior, you’re living from the outside in. And then you’re pretty f-ked.’
The couple tried to keep their relationship out of the public eye as much as possible, although Swift’s fans believe the songs Gorgeous from 2017’s Reputation album and London Boy from 2019’s Lover are homages to the British actor.
Swifties seemed to start paying attention to Alwyn after it was revealed he had writing credits on the singer’s 2020 album, Folklore, which won three Grammys, and on its follow-up Evermore, which was written during the Covid-19 lockdown.
The actor who received a Grammy for his contribution to Evermore, which won Album of the Year, said he was in a different space now.
‘I have great family and friends and real things in my life; those are the things that kept me tethered to the ground,’ he declared, adding, ‘So I don’t know how else to say it, it’s… just in a different room.’
