Angelina Jolie ends 2-year legal battle against FBI over claims ex-husband Brad Pitt abused her in private jet
After a two-year battle, Angelina Jolie has dropped her lawsuit against the FBI over the bureau’s investigation into an alleged abuse incident that took place between her and her ex-husband Brad Pitt.
The “Tomb Raider” star filed a motion to dismiss the case with prejudice on Sept. 25, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.
Both parties will be liable for paying their own legal fees.
The FBI launched an investigation into Pitt’s alleged physical altercation involving Jolie, 49, and their children on a private jet in 2016 after an anonymous call was placed to the bureau.
The investigation closed on Nov. 22, 2016, with no charges being brought against Pitt, 60. Jolie filed for divorce from the “Once Upon a Time” actor days later.
Jolie filed the suit under a “Jane Doe” psuedonym in April 2022. Citing the Freedom of Information Act, the actress sought out information “about the agency’s investigation of an incident of domestic violence that occurred several years ago involving plaintiff and her minor children as victims and witnesses.”
At the time, a source told us that the suit was a strategic move by Jolie to get whatever damaging information the FBI had on Pitt to use against him in their custody battle over their six kids — which still has yet to be settled.
“Angelina is likely looking for a morsel of information, something else to use against Brad, to hurt him,” the insider shared.
“This is a desperate fishing expedition trying to find something that likely doesn’t exist in FBI notes and make it public.”
In a separate countersuit, Jolie alleged that Pitt “choked one of the children and struck another in the face” while the family was traveling from France to California on a private plane, according to legal docs previously obtained by Page Six.
She also stated that the actor “grabbed” her “by the head” and “shook her.”
“At one point, he poured beer on Jolie; at another, he poured beer and red wine on the children,” the documents also claim.
Pitt has vehemently denied any claims of physical abuse, calling Jolie’s claims against him “completely untrue.”
