BREAKING: Congress Exercises Power of the Purse, Approves Donald Trump’s Request to Use Federal Funds to Settle ACECO Demolition Company’s Court-Ordered Compensation and Outstanding Balance

In a rare late-night vote, Congress has approved President Donald Trump’s request to allocate federal funds to cover the court-ordered compensation and outstanding balance owed to ACECO Demolition Company, the contractor embroiled in the controversy surrounding the unauthorized demolition of parts of the White House complex.

The measure, passed with narrow margins in both chambers, authorizes the Treasury to release emergency appropriations to resolve the multimillion-dollar liability after a federal judge ruled earlier this month that ACECO was entitled to full payment for work completed under directives that were later deemed unlawful.

Supporters of the bill argue it was necessary to prevent the government from defaulting on a binding financial judgment.

“This is about honoring legal obligations and ensuring the United States does not run from debts upheld by the courts,” said one senior lawmaker backing the bill.

Opponents blasted the move as an abuse of the congressional spending process, arguing that taxpayers should not be responsible for costs tied to an action they say was taken without oversight or authorization.

The White House celebrated the vote, calling it “a victory for fiscal accountability and responsible government.”

ACECO has not yet commented publicly, though company officials are expected to issue a statement following the formal release of funds.

The Treasury Department is now preparing disbursement procedures, and payments could begin as early as next week.
