Fans slam Travis Kelce’s ex as she uses tight end to desperately cling on to fame in Super Bowl
Fans are criticizing Kayla Nicole, the ex-girlfriend of Travis Kelce, for her appearance in a Super Bowl advertisement where she appeared to diss the Chiefs tight end and his fiancée, pop icon Taylor Swift.
The video ad for the fantasy sports app Sleeper starred comedian Tiffany Haddish and NBA star Ben Simmons promoting their business ‘Simmons and Haddish’ to help people getting ‘ex-communicated’ from their exes after a celebrity breakup.
‘Have you or someone you know been injured emotionally in a high-profile relationship? It’s very common,’ Haddish, 46, said.
‘Are your exes subbing you in commercials?’ added Simmons, 28, in an apparent jab back at his ex, Kendall Jenner, who appeared in her own Super Bowl ad with Fanatics while joking about the infamous ‘Kardashian Kurse’ conspiracy theory.
The rest of the ad featured famous celebrity exes like Ace Greene from Love Island USA and former Migos rapper Offset.
But Nicole’s role saw the script take aim at Swift and Kelce, identifying her in the ad by name and as the ‘Ex of a certain NFL player.’
‘Don’t get me started on these two,’ Nicole joked as she then appeared in the ad, rating the pair’s services. ‘They’ve got no idea what they’re doing. At all.’
Later in the ad, Nicole said, ‘Simmons & Haddish promised me that they could put an end to this whole ‘ex-girlfriend’ fiasco quickly,’ to which Simmons interjected, ‘That doesn’t sound right.’
After Nicole went through other synonyms for quick like ‘Rapidly’ and ‘Pronto,’ Simmons replied, ‘I said swiftly, why is that so hard to remember?’
While Nicole and Kelce dated for about five years, the couple split in May of 2022. Later that year, the tight end would begin his relationship with Swift.
Fans who saw the ad roasted Nicole for her inability to move on from the relationship that ended nearly four years ago.
‘This is so sad. Sad her family, friends, and so called team aren’t telling her shes bat shit crazy and knock this crap off. She needs a job. A 9-5. I hear Kohls is hiring!’ one Swiftie posted on X.
Another said, ‘I’m convinced she doesn’t have any friends cuz my friends wouldn’t let me crash out like this after 4 years.’
‘Don’t you think it’s way past time to move on?’ wondered another user.
Nicole has frequently delivered subtle digs at her ex’s new relationship, which has led to Swift responding in the way she knows best.
On her latest album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl,’ fans have speculated that the song ‘Opalite’ contains shade thrown Nicole’s way.
‘You couldn’t understand it, why you felt alone / You were in it for real, she was in her phone and you were just a pose,’ Swift sings on the track.
She continues: ‘And don’t we try to love love? We give it all we got / You finally left the table, and what a simple thought / You’re starving ’til you’re not.’
