Janet Jackson Faces Backlash for Promoting False Claims About Kamala Harris’ Race and Private…
Janet Jackson is facing backlash for comments she made about Kamala Harris‘ race in a new interview.
The 58-year-old singer suggested in a new interview with The Guardian that she believes conspiracy theories being spread by right-wing commentators.
While speaking with the outlet, the reporter mentioned that America could be electing its first black female president. Janet doesn’t seem to agree with that.
“Well, you know what they supposedly said? She’s not black. That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian,” Janet told the reporter.
The reporter replied, “Well, she’s both.”
Janet responded, “Her father’s white. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told that they discovered her father was white.”
The reporter made sure that Janet was aware of Kamala‘s true racial identity and then asked if she believed America was ready for a woman of color to be president.
“I don’t know,” Janet said. “Honestly, I don’t want to answer that because I really, truthfully, don’t know. I think either way it goes is going to be mayhem.”
“I think there might be mayhem,” she continued. “Either way it goes, but we’ll have to see.”
Janet recently opened up about an experience she had with the late Queen Elizabeth.
