Kylie Jenner reflects on friendship fallout with Jordyn Woods: ‘I was heartbroken’ — but it was ‘needed’
Kylie Jenner understands that sometimes some friendships – like her and Jordyn Woods – need to be put on pause.
The Khy clothing founder, 27, spoke to Elle for the magazine’s November issue and revealed that she “was heartbroken” when she and Woods’ tight bond was strained in 2019.
“We’ve always tried to talk through things, so it’s never been a full cold-turkey cutoff; it was needed distance,” Jenner said.
Woods infamously kissed Jenner’s sister Khloé Kardashian’s then-boyfriend, Tristan Thompson, which resulted in the friendship breakup.
“Anytime something happened, good or bad, and I needed to call someone, it would always be her,” the mother of two added. “To lose that person felt really lonely, but I had to go through that.”
The “Kardashians” star then went on to explain that due her and Woods’ intense closeness, they needed to broaden their horizons after the relationship drama with Kardashian and Thompson spiraled in 2019.
“I learned so much, gained so much independence, and was there for myself. It helped me grow up a little bit, because we were so attached at the hip,” Jenner shared.
“I think that in order for us both to grow, she needed to spread her wings and do what she needed to do as well.”
Kardashian, 40, and Thompson, 33, called it quits for good at the end of 2021 around the time it was revealed he fathered a child with Maralee Nichols while he was still dating the reality star in March 2021.
Earlier this year, Jenner was candid with the Good American co-founder about her casual friendship with Woods.
“I think we have a lot more healthy distance in the relationship,” Jenner said during a May episode of Hulu’s “Kardashians” before adding that they “talk once a month.”
The Sprinter founder then addressed the viral hangout she had with Woods in July 2023 and how after that moment, the buzz around their friendship seemingly died down.
“I think, what I do love now is that, the narrative about us online is also over,” Jenner told her older sister during the same episode.
“When we were seen leaving that restaurant, it was a story for a day, maybe two days, whatever, and now it’s over. People know that we’re cool and no one’s talking about it anymore.”
Kardashian told Jenner that she didn’t want her to have any “regrets” and that she “never had an issue with you keeping your friendships with anyone.”
Woods and the Kylie Cosmetics founder then had another viral moment when Jenner shared a TikTok of their hangout alongside Stassie Karanikolaou on Sept. 6.
In the clip, the trio mouthed one of Kim Kardashian’s intros to the “Kardashians” show.
“Okay guys, we’re back,” Jenner mouthed, while Woods added, “Did you miss us?”
