Patrick Mahomes puts reporter in his place after question on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce romance
Patrick Mahomes couldn’t resist correcting a reporter who appeared to forget that Travis Kelce is engaged to Taylor Swift in an awkward moment on Thursday.
Kelce was fielding questions alongside Mahomes in Brazil ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs’ season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday night when his teammate interrupted to make sure everyone remembers he is now a fiancé.
The reporter in question asked the Chiefs tight end whether any of his various off-field activities, such as ‘dating Taylor Swift’, are proving a distraction heading into his 13th year in the NFL.
Before he could answer, Mahomes quickly butted in to draw laughter from the room as he simply said: ‘Engaged.’
‘Yeah, I got one more ring from it,’ Kelce joked in response.
He then continued on a more serious note: ‘Ever since I’ve been dating Taylor, life has been fun. It’s been exciting.
‘Obviously there’s a lot more eyes [on me] and I accept that, but I’m living life and living on a high I guess.’
Kelce and Swift broke the internet when they announced their engagement last week, with the NFL star getting down on one knee and popping the question two years into their whirlwind romance.
Earlier this week Travis finally spoke out about his proposal, and made a huge claim that delighted Swifties around the world.
‘I appreciate everybody that reached out and sent something, and all the posts, all the excitement that’s been going on,’ Kelce told his brother Jason.
‘It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with.’
