Travis Kelce Tearfully recalls his dad’s priceless dating advice in school… despite not getting the ‘birds and bees’ talk

Travis Kelce has revealed his dad Ed was on hand with some crucial words of advice when he was trying to win over a girl back in his middle school days.

Ed joined Travis, 35, and eldest son Jason, 37, on the latest episode of their New Heights podcast, where the two brothers looked back at the romantic guidance their father gave them as youngsters.

And as he pursued a potential love interest in middle school, the Kansas City Chiefs star says his dad urged him to ‘be her friend’ first before letting the relationship progress.

‘I remember I was trying to get a girl to figure out I was funny or cool in early middle school, sixth, seventh, eighth, maybe younger than that,’ Travis recalled, ‘and he had this funny way of [saying], “Hey, just be her friend, just be cool with her.

‘”If she doesn’t like it, pretty girls all hang around pretty girls.” I was like, “Alright, yeah, there you go. Just be friends with them.”‘

Jason was afforded similar wisdom by Ed while at the University of Cincinnati.

‘I do remember a brief discussion Jason and I had when he was at UC,’ Ed, who split from Jason and Travis’ mom Donna shortly after they graduated from college, said.

‘”Yeah, I see these girls, but I really don’t know what to talk about.” I told you then, and it’s true for every guy, any guy listening, “You know I play football and everybody talks about that, but tell me about you.”‘

‘All you gotta do is shut up and let them talk about themselves and you ain’t gotta say another word,’ he added. ‘Nod your head and say, “Oh wow, yeah, cool.” Add the comments in there to make her feel good. You don’t have to say nothing.’

Ed then joked that his approach to speaking with women is probably ‘why I live alone.’

Though while he was always happy to help them win over the ladies, Jason revealed he and Travis were never sat down and given the ‘birds and bees’ chat by their dad.

‘I never got any advice on sex from Dad,’ he said. ‘We never had the birds and the bees talk.’

Ed then confirmed: ‘No we didn’t, no we didn’t.’

Jason quipped: ‘He left that to the Cleveland Heights Public School system.’

‘I lived without it, you can too,’ Ed joked.

Both Travis and Jason are now in happy relationships, with the former of course almost two years into a high-profile romance with pop megastar Taylor Swift.

As for Jason, he has been married to longtime partner Kylie since 2018.

The loved-up couple recently welcomed their fourth daughter, Finnley Anne Kelce, back in March, joining other girls Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2.
